Chief Judge Sentelle to Take Senior Status

Chief Judge David Sentelle will be taking senior status on February 12, 2013, according to the U.S. Courts website.  Todd Ruger reports that the next judge in line to be Chief is Judge Merrick Garland.

When Chief Judge Sentelle steps down, the court will retain its longstanding Republican-appointed majority by only a single judge.  And with four of the D.C. Circuit’s 11 seats seats vacant, President Obama will have an opportunity to significantly remake the court.

  1. Yes, C. Halligan from NYC is still fighting to stay alive in this very political firestorm surrounding her nomination, but the other nominee from the Solicitor General’s Ofc., should get a vote & be approved rather soon. I would like to see President Obama nominate a well-qualified African-American for 1 of the 4 vacancies.
